Appendix F. End of Course Survey


There are three main sections of the end of course surveys: student reflection, course content, and instructor specific. There are additional sections for courses with an online component and/or those with a laboratory component.

Students are asked to rate their agreement with a statement using a scale of Strongly Agree (SA), Agree (A), Disagree (D), Strongly Disagree (SD), unless otherwise specified. If students select Disagree or Strongly Disagree, they are asked to provide specific feedback.

Student Reflection Section

This section is designed to help students reflect on their behaviors and external obligations during a course, and to evaluate how those behaviors and obligations may have impacted their success in a course.

  1. On average, how many hours per week did you spend studying and completing assignments for this course outside of this class?
  • Answer choices: 0-2 hours; 3-4 hours; 5-6 hours; 7-9 hours ; 10 or more hours
  1. How often did you check your York Technical College email account during this course?

Course Content Section

This section is designed to obtain information specifically related to materials, resources, and the content in a course. Unless otherwise specified, students are asked to rate their agreement with a statement using a scale of Strongly Agree (SA), Agree (A), Disagree (D), Strongly Disagree (SD).

  1. The content covered in this course was directly related to the course topic.
  2. Overall, the assignments and tests in this course covered the content taught in class.

Instructor Specific Section

This section focuses on obtaining feedback from students relating to how a course was taught and the teaching methodologies used. Unless otherwise specified, students are asked to rate their agreement with a statement using a scale of Strongly Agree (SA), Agree (A), Disagree (D), Strongly Disagree (SD).
