YTC Systems & Technology

There are multiple systems used at York Technical College to enable instructional excellence in our courses. Below are some of the common systems utilized by faculty for instruction of both credit and non-credit/continuing education courses.

Office365

York Technical College utilizes and provides Office365 accounts for all faculty, staff, and credit - seeking students. Faculty are expected to use their York Tech email account as the primary means of communication with others throughout the College and with students. In addition to the cloud based version, Office365 can be downloaded. To view details and tutorials on Office365, please visit the Office365 Faculty Resources page.

D2L - Learning Management System

York Technical College uses the D2L/Brightspace learning management system, administered by the Institution for Teaching Excellence. All courses at the College will have a course shell created and faculty are required to post attendance information and ensure the gradebook is an accurate reflection of a student’s grade. In addition to training sessions offered throughout the year, the D2L Faculty Resources site contains tutorials and on-demand resources.

Navigate

Navigate is the College’s Student Success Management System. The Navigate-student platform allows students to view their class schedule, schedule meetings with advisors, faculty, and other support staff, find College resources, create their academic plan, and register for classes. Full-time faculty will use the Navigate-staff platform primarily for advising, but may also use it for progress reports, documenting student meetings and other activities. Additional information on Navigate can be found on the Navigate site in the Employee Portal.

WebAdvisor

WebAdvisor is a system for both faculty and students use, albeit for different reasons. Students can use WebAdvisor to run their academic evaluation. Faculty use WebAdvisor to view student records and obtain course registration information. WebAdvisor is also the location of your pay stub (salary statements), tax information, and provides a location for certain employees to enter their hours worked.

Lumens

In the Workforce and Economic Development Division, Lumens is used by faculty instructing non-credit and continuing education courses. This includes faculty teaching credit and non-credit students within the same course. Faculty will maintain class records and attendance in Lumens, and students should use Lumens to access D2L directly. Faculty instructing non-credit online courses that are delivered through D2L should maintain attendance records within D2L as well as Lumens.

Employee Portal

The Employee Portal (SharePoint page) contains important information, links to commonly used forms, resources provided by other areas, and more. You will likely use the Academic & Student Affairs employee portal page frequently. The Human Resources portion of the employee portal contains information and forms related to eLeave requests, the faculty and staff observation system, in addition to other topics. It also houses important information for faculty and staff, such as resources, online forms, links to essential workplace information, and leave requests.
