The PPAT certificate includes four (4) Police Science courses and is designed for completion in one semester. Qualified candidates receive the training equivalent to the first four (4) weeks of the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy (SCCJA). Candidates will receive academic instruction on the same topics presented to new law enforcement recruits at the CSSJA. Upon successful completion, students will receive college credit and South Carolina state certification or SCCJA credit. In addition to being a “stand-alone” academic certificate, the courses are also applicable to the Associate degree in Criminal Justice Technology. Students do not have to employed by a law enforcement agency to participate.
