The Associate in Applied Science in Radiologic Technology prepares graduates for careers as Radiologic Technologists. Job options include hospitals, urgent care centers, and medical offices. People who want to work in the health care field and have strong science and math skills may be interested in this program. Students enrolled in this program are subject to criminal background checks and drug screenings. Graduates of this program will be eligible to sit for the ARRT exam to become registered. Clinical facilities require drug screens and background checks before allowing students to participate in clinical rotations. Students participating in clinicals may be required to have a drug screen at any time during their rotation. Results of background checks and drug screens will be reviewed with designated personnel at the affiliate clinical sites. To be accepted for a clinical placement, all findings must be satisfactory to all participating clinical sites. Students not accepted for clinical rotations will not be able to successfully complete the course or program. Students are responsible for all fees associated with drug screens, criminal background checks or lab usage.
Admission Criteria - There are 3 tracks for qualifying for entry into the Rad Tech Program. All applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and qualify by one of the following tracks:
Track 1: Accuplacer Next Gen Scores
Obtain these scores on Accuplacer Next Gen AND complete BIO 210* & BIO 211* (A or B within 2 attempts):
Reading: ≥263
Writing: ≥250
Math: AAF (Advanced Algebra & Function) ≥240
Accuplacer Next Gen is only valid if taken within the last 3 years, maximum of 3 attempts.
Students are encouraged to complete all general education coursework prior to beginning program coursework. This includes: COL 101, ENG 101, HSS 205, MAT 110, PSY 201, Elective (3 credit hours).
Track 2: SAT or ACT Scores
Obtain these scores on the SAT/ACT and Accuplacer Next Gen Reading AND complete BIO 210* & BIO 211* (A or B within 2 attempts):
SAT Verbal: ≥480
SAT Math: ≥570
Accuplacer Reading: ≥263
OR
ACT Verbal: ≥21
ACT Math: ≥23

Track 3: Allied Health Services Certificate (CT.RADAH)
Complete the Allied Health Services Certificate (CT.RADAH 71357) with a GPA of 2.5 or higher AND complete BIO 210* & BIO 211* (A or B within 2 attempts).

For all 3 tracks, all students must complete BIO 210 (Anatomy & Physiology I) and BIO 211 (Anatomy & Physiology II) with a grade of A or B within two attempts. Grades of C, D, F or WF count as attempts. Students who are unsuccessful after 2 attempts can be reconsidered for the program after a 5-year waiting period.
Program Requirements
Upon qualifying, the applicant must complete the waiting list request form by logging into Navigate>>Resources>>Forms>>Waiting List Request Form. Applicants will be required to also submit the Rad Tech Program Acknowledgement Form.
Qualified applicants are accepted into the program in the order in which they qualify. The applicant will receive a formal letter of acceptance into the program. This letter will request payment of the $100 nonrefundable, nontransferable deposit for confirmation of intent to enroll. The deposit will later be applied towards the program tuition for the first summer term. Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA to qualify for entry into the Rad Tech program.
Upon accepting entry into your first summer term of the program, a completed medical physical examination and documentation forms must be completed within 3 months prior to the start of program and must be turned into the Program Director.
Documentation of certification in the American Heart Association ( AHA ) BLS CPR course is required prior to Program entry and must be turned in to the Program Director. Students must provide evidence of current health insurance coverage each semester in order to be allowed into the clinical facility.
Students must submit a completed student health form to include the following:
- Physical Assessment
- Proof of two MMR vaccinations AND Rubella titer is required or if no proof of MMR is available you must have titers for each (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella)
- Proof of two Varicella (Chicken Pox) vaccinations OR titer required
- Proof of Diphtheria-Tetanus Booster (Last booster must have been received within the past 10 years.)
- Hepatitis B vaccination is recommended (Documentation of declination is required if student does not have the vaccine.)
- Proof of 2-step PPD or 1-step Quantiferon
- Physician’s evaluation
- Proof of current annual flu vaccination (Documentation of declination is required if student does not have the vaccine.)
- COVID-19 vaccine (Documentation of declination is required if student does not have the vaccine.) Please note *York Technical College does not require the COVID-19 vaccination for students as a condition of enrollment or attendance. Students intending to enroll in a health-care related program should be aware that York Technical College maintains clinical placement agreements with health care facilities where students are required to complete clinical rotatinos as part of the requirements for their academic program. Cllinical sites maintain their own policies governing vaccine and booster requrements, including the COVID-19 vaccine, and any exemption processes related to those requirements. Students choosing to pursue a program that requires a clinical component must follow all vaccine policies and requirements of clinical sites. Vaccine requirements and the approval of exemptions are at the sole discretion of each clinical site, and clinical sites may implement and modify vaccine requirements at any time as they deem necessary.

Students must complete 82 semester credits with a minimum grade of 80% in all Radiology Technology courses, a ‘B’ or above in BIO 210/BIO 211 and ‘C’ or above in all other general education courses. An overall GPA of 2.0 must be maintained each semester when in the Radiologic Technology Program.
While in the AAS.RAD core curriculum courses, the grading scales is as follows:
93 - 100 A
86 ‑ 92 B
80 ‑ 85 C
70 ‑ 79 D
