Exercise Science, General Technology Specialization, AAS (AAS.GT.GTES 71335)


This Associate in Applied Science degree with a major in General Technology contains a primary and secondary technical specialty which combine the general education/electives/other courses required for the Exercise Science program.

The Exercise Science program prepares graduates to help people meet their health related goals. Graduates may work in fitness centers, gyms, be self-employed or pursue higher education which may take them into the healthcare arena. The program provides a science-based understanding of the basics of exercise, nutrition, and human anatomy and physiology. Students will complete an internship experience and learn how to create fitness plans based on the individual’s fitness level and goals and guide them on their path to improved health and well-being. Graduates may attempt a variety of national certification exams. This program prepares students to enter the workforce as well as facilitate a transfer to a 4 year degree program or 2 year healthcare related program such as Physical Therapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Students who wish to work in the health/wellness/fitness industries, physical/occupational therapy, nutrition/supplement field, or physical education would find the Exercise Science program most appropriate.
