The Truck Driving/CDL Certificate Program is designed to ensure student success while in training and in their future career by providing state of the industry instruction in the most relevant, safe, efficient, and effective manner possible. The future of the Truck Driving industry is dependent upon our ability to provide the most efficient safe training possible to include Pre-Trip/Enroute/Post-Trip Inspections, Basic Operation, Safe Operating Procedures, Defensive Driving, Advanced Operating Procedures, Vehicle Systems and Reporting Malfunctions, Maneuver Range Operation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations, Cargo Handling, Hours of Service and Accident Prevention.
The instructors train to ensure our students leave York Technical College prepared to succeed in their newly chosen career field.
Students can achieve a successful career in truck driving by being employed with a carrier company or becoming an owner operator. Students can find job opportunities in the industry for short, in state hauling or over the road, out of state hauling.
Program Requirements Before Class
- Students must obtain a CDL permit
- DOT Physical
- MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) Status Report
- DOT Drug Screen
Program Requirement
Students must have a grade of “C” or higher to successfully complete the program.
