Early Care and Education Teacher Assistant Certificate (CT.ECET 35508)

The Teacher Assistant certificate program prepares graduates for entry-level roles in early childhood settings that serve children birth through age 8, focusing more on children ages 3 through 8. Possible job options are child care centers, preschools, and public or private schools. People who enjoy helping children learn and grow would be interested in this program of study. Students enrolled in this program are subject to criminal background checks, processed through the SC State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

Courses ECD 131 and ECD 132 contain a lab component of 24 hours.  All lab courses require completed South Carolina Department of Social Services documentation. ECD 135 requires each student to complete pediatric First Aid and CPR.
